In the beginning was the Word (Jesus). He existed before He created. (John 1:1)
God created the Heavens (This He created first.)
God created the Earth
These refer to space, as in width, height, depth. Time was created later.

Therefore, in eternity past:
• the Earth was formless, void, dark
• yet the Spirit of the Lord hovered over the Earth
• He created light and separated the light from the darkness. Notice it does not say He created darkness. That is because darkness is not a thing to behold; it is the absence of light, just as evil is the absence of God.
Timeline Begins:
God called the light “day” and the darkness “night”. Thusly time began, the first day.
Creation, including 7 days. Created Man and Woman on the sixth day.
The Fall. Adam and Eve sin and God evicts them from Eden.
Cain kills his brother Able and the Lord curses Cain.
Seth, brother of Cain and Able was born.
The family of Man grew. In those days they lived a long time. Methuselah lived to be 969 years old.
